I really should check my comments more often. Thanks for commenting, Brad. I've gotten a lot better with the MF since my first outing. I actually have been using it like you describe most of the time (similar to my Nikon back-button focus). I continue to be impressed by the camera and the 35 f/1.4. Need to do a follow-up blog entry. And I need to get more glass!

I shoot the X-Pro1 in manual mode all the time, and I use the AE/AF button to autofocus in manual mode. Works great. I use the X-Pro1 with the 35mm Fuji lens (awesome!) and with old Nikon F lenses with the adapter. I have an old Nikkor 135mm f2.8 that I used last night in an auditorium, and it is a great combination with the X-Pro1. When shooting in manual mode, you can just push in the jog wheel to get focus peeking. When you spin the wheel to the right, you get magnified focus peeking. With the 35mm lens, I find that the X-Pro1 focuses very well when shot in manual mode and using the AF button to do the autofocusing. What I continue to struggle with is focusing on close subjects when using the OVF. I find that the OVF just can't be trusted. And, since I shoot manual lenses often, I tend to use the EVF. Yes, it would be nice to have better low-light focusing capabilities. But every camera has its limitations, and the images that come off of this sensor or worth the extra focusing trouble.
