Art Nudes

I’ve always loved the look of Fine Art Nudes, but until recently never had the chance to create my own images in the genre. But a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend an Art Nude workshop taught by Billy Monday in nearby Fuquay-Varina, NC, at the Veritas Studio. It was a great workshop, with only a handful of other photographers sharing time with the beautiful Edith J as our model.

We started the day with some instruction and quickly moved to shooting Edith on a black background with continuous lighting (aka, hot lights). We then moved on to strobes and eventually the white background where I created some of my favorite images of the day (my “Fallen” series). We ended the day using natural light from the studio’s bank of windows (which also let us use the wonderful red sofa).

Fun day and the reception I’ve gotten to the images at my 500px gallery has been excellent. I look forward to doing more work in the genre (when my wife lets me 🙂 ).
